Our local restaurant industry has been one of the hardest hit financially from the COVID-19 pandemic. Great Lakes Hotel Supply and the Michigan Chefs de Cuisine Association have partnered to create this Local Love campaign to help our struggling Detroit area restaurant industry.  

Great Lakes Hotel Supply is a foodservice equipment dealer based in Southfield, MI. Founded in 1933 and family owned, Great Lakes has been fortunate to work with many Detroit Area restaurants, offering culinary design, equipment procurement & installation, and total project management for any size kitchen. 

The Michigan Chefs de Cuisine Association is the largest chapter of the American Culinary Federation in the country. The ACF sets standards of excellence in culinary certification and competition.  This chapter was formed by Chef Milos, who has the distinction of being the first Certified Master Chef in the country. He is considered the culinary “father” of the Detroit culinary scene in many ways as most of our local chefs have either been trained by him or by one of his apprentices.  

This Local Love fund will raise money to help Greater Detroit area restaurant, bar, and hospitality workers & owners who are struggling financially, have experienced loss of income or a job due to the COVID-19 pandemic closures and restrictions.   

100% of all funds raised will go directly to individual workers or business owners in need.*

No matter the position, front of the house, back of the house, busser, host/hostess, line cook, or business owner, we want to help by giving money directly to those that need it. We know so many people are struggling to pay rent or mortgages, utility/phone bills, or even to provide their families with basic necessities.   

Restaurant and bar workers take care of us in normal times – now it’s our turn to take care of them!

Help us help our local restaurant industry survive this extremely difficult period. Together, we can make a difference in our community.  Any amount helps and we thank you sincerely for your consideration. Please show your LOCAL LOVE and do your part to make sure your favorite restaurant is there for you and your family and friends when the pandemic smoke clears!   

The  American Culinary Federation Michigan Chefs de Cuisine Association, Detroit Chapter is our non-profit partner and will disburse all monies fairly to recipients. Our goal is to disburse funds on a monthly basis, with the first distribution the week before Christmas. 

We established 2 tiers of funding – one for a sole proprieter/business owner to utilize funds to keep their business going, and one for employees to use in whatever way helps them best.  We will distribute to as many people signed up as possible based on the total number of donations received.  Donations will be awarded on a first come first served basis. Fundraising will continue until March 1, 2021.

Our goal is to give $2500 each to registered and approved business owners, and $500 each to individual employees. Eligible businesses must be registered in the State of Michigan. We reserve the right to alter the donation amounts for large chains or restaurant groups.

ENROLLMENT INSTRUCTIONS:

All individual employee recipients must be enrolled by their employer. Each business must complete and turn in our Business Agreement form which outlines conditions for participation, as well as an Employee Enrollment form and/or a Sole Proprietor Enrollment form.

To enroll your establishment or your employees as recipients of this fund, follow the instructions below to submit the completed forms. Please follow these steps to avoid a blank document being submitted!

  1. Click download button. Document should download as a document tab at the bottom of your web browser. It will also open as a web page in your browser.
  2. Either drag the document as it appears in bottom of browser to your computer (desktop, folder, etc.) or from the opened web page, click on the download icon in top left of window and save to the preferred location on your computer.
  3. Open document from your preferred saved location and it will open into your pdf program.
  4. Complete the document and click on save.
  5. Upload your saved document with the Upload link below.
